A/V Where You Want It — No Drywall Repairs Needed

Retrofit Done Right
This Durham homeowner had recently moved from Chapel Hill and brought along an impressive collection of AV equipment, including two complete 5.1 surround sound systems. Their goal: recreate the immersive setups they had in their previous home — one in the living room and one in a custom man cave — without compromising the finished walls of their new home.
The living room featured a 5.1 Polk Audio system powered by a Yamaha receiver. We mounted the bookshelf speakers to the walls and carefully fished wire through the crawlspace and up the interior walls, avoiding any drywall cuts or damage. The end result looked like a clean, new-construction install, with no patching needed.
The man cave presented a unique challenge — the walls were lined with framed hockey jerseys, leaving limited space for mounting speakers and a 55-inch TV. We planned speaker locations to complement the room’s layout and installed everything without disrupting the display. The room now delivers a rich audio experience for playing PS5 and watching hockey.
We also helped the client get more out of their new home’s existing ceiling and outdoor patio speakers. By connecting those to their Yamaha MusicCast system, we gave them a unified, multi-room audio experience. Finally, we mounted three TVs: an 85-inch Sony in the living room, the 55-inch in the man cave, and a smaller TV in the bedroom.
This was a technical and rewarding project that required thoughtful retrofitting and system integration — exactly the kind of challenge we specialize in.
